Teaching is a concept that cannot be limited to either art or science in any specific way. It is part of everyone’s everyday life. The art of teaching requires a lot of diligence, and a person who teaches should enjoy and always give the best performance everyday they teach. There must also be an atmosphere that gives students a chance to be creative as well as enjoyment in being taught. Therefore everyone involved is working towards and attaining a common goal, to learn. It is both a combination of both art and science.

Teaching needs skills so does art. Skills that are involved with teaching are the learning, decision making, conceptual, as well as human relations. To perform teaching skills correctly you must have the clarity on the concept of where, why, how, and what. It is this know how and technical skills that are important to the functions and it increases efficiency. Since teaching exists everyday, this compromises the dealing with human relations in an art, which also makes teaching too. The importance of decision-making is a very important aspect in teaching, and it can be stated as an art because it takes a lot of facts and analysis.

Teaching also requires information from many various subjects from different areas, as does art. To teach efficiently and effectively it requires information from the other fields. Information is based on the what, where, how, and when the information should be taught based on the skill level of the students, and also by using the most updated information that is available. All of this requires knowledge. Teaching also requires creativity, just as art does. The aspect of creativity is very important in teaching. A teacher must be able to think of new ways to keep the students interested in learning and wanting to learn more. A student does not want to go to class and be bored, there creativity requires a teacher to use their artistic skills to create unique learning. As each person has their own way to personalize art, each teacher has their own style of teaching, which is also true when it comes to performance. As with art, there is good, bad and average, which are indicators of a teacher’s performance as well.

Teaching also can be considered as a science, because it has features that are similar. Teaching involves innovative ideas, reasoning, utilizing knowledge, directing, controlling and feedback to process the status students learning efficiency, which is all, shared by science. Social and perfect science is the two types of science shared with teaching.

Science as with teaching is organized by knowledge, and it in an extremely important part of teaching. It is the knowledge of what, where, when, etc and the proper resources for information that make a teacher effective, and give informative teaching which is all involved in science.

Another feature both science and teaching share is time. There is usually a period of struggle for a new teacher starting out, but over time they become more effective and a better teacher. The third feature shared with science is that with “every action comes an equal and opposite reaction.” In teaching, it is the decisions the teacher makes that will affect everyone in the classroom.

The forth aspect is the constant need to renew rules. As with science there is also a constant need to change rules or theories even those set by experts depending on the figures and facts and what is going on inside the classroom. The rules and regulations very as time goes. In teaching, the changes that keep occurring depend on how the data and facts are analyzed by the students so that the teacher knows everyone understands what is being taught. Sometimes the old teaching methods and conditions change and are replaced with new ones that will help give better performance.

In conclusion, teaching is a combination of both arts and science as explained earlier. It is many things to different people, but teaching is learning. It should focused on strategies, structures, concepts, and should also make the learning process occur and be enjoyable even if it means the teacher must use some arts to keep the students interested. Teaching will not happen until the students have learned, which will also make a teacher strive for the best ways available so everyone learns.
