Mastermind Tyler Perry has once again made his way into the hearts of the American public with another dramatically touching film. Daddy’s Little Girls (2007), filmed in Georgia, a romantic-comedy is a beautiful and impressive film about the life of a mechanic Monty (Doris Elba), who has to enlist the help of lawyer Julia (Gabrielle Union) to regain custody of his three daughters. With all of Perry’s films there is a certain overwhelming feeling of the odds that anyone can overcome life’s challenges with a little religion and a whole lot of love.

Daddy’s Little Girls was written and directed by Tyler Perry; he was n charge of all creative aspects of the film. Tyler Perry, as the writer and director he was also responsible for the style of the film and how it came across on screen to the viewer. As defined by (Dictionary. Com) a director is the “person responsible for the interpretive aspects of a stage, film, or a television production; the person who supervises the integration of all elements, as acting, staging, and lighting, required to realize the writer’s conception. With this film it was easy for Perry to know exactly what he himself wanted to portray to the audience. When writing this film Perry may have already known exactly how the story will be told and what the audience will feel for the actors and how their roles in the film will help you relate to your own life. Tyler Perry is the type of director that can produce a complete film in eight months. He is able to do this by picking up the camera, saying what needs to be said and moving on. More often than not Tyler Perry will use a familiar cast with those that you have seen before.

While this does allow the viewer recon action it sometimes leads you While the familiar characters hat tend to be in a Tyler Perry film, did not make an appearance all the actors involved were successful in making the film a must see for any Tyler Perry movie lovers. Monty is an ex-convict, auto mechanic who seems to know just what his little girls need, their daddy. He lives in a poor neighborhood and is unable to support his three daughters therefore the court awards their mother Jennifer (Dash Smith) with custody.

While Monty (Elba) is trying to regain custody the neighborhood is dealing with his ex-wife’s new drug dealing boyfriend (Joe) and all the drama that his lifestyle brings. Circumstances being what they are and out of his control, this leaves his three daughters in the hands of his ex- wife. Monty is a single man working as hard as he can to secure a job and a stable environment for his little girls. He has little to no funds to hire a lawyer to fight for his rights to his kids.

In a desperate attempt to get awarded custody he enlists the help of Julia (Gabrielle Union), a woman whose anal-retentive bossiness and hostility toward her social inferiors is attributed to her own rotten love life and overall hostility. Not to mention a woman whom he had shortly irked for and been fired by when his daughters accidentally started a fire. Throughout the course of the film we find out little details about the star actors past and present that ultimately have you rooting for Monty and Julie to unite.

The film shows the harder side of life of those living in Atlanta, GA. The side of life that we all struggle with and the hope that one day things will turn around in your favor. The film shows a side of town that no matter how many times you call the police, no one will come because the neighborhood is such a drug and rime infested place. While everyone knows what needs to be done everyone has been threatened into silence when the drug dealers do get caught. This is a neighborhood that really needs someone to stand up give them back their fight.

Late one night after being with their mother the three girls show up and tell their daddy about how Joe (Sutures), their mom’s boyfriend, is physically abusing the youngest daughter (China). In a fit of rage Monty, coincidentally is involved in a car accident with Jennifer and Joe. After wrecking their cars Monty begins to fight with Joe. This is the climax in the film and the moment when the whole neighborhood teams up to put an end to the drug dealing and violence that has wreaked havoc on their town.

With a wonderful cast of talented actors it’s obvious why Tyler Perry is such a great successful screen writer. The following actors help to contribute to the films great story. Doris Elba as Monty James plays a hard-working mechanic and dad, the protagonist in the film. Gabrielle Union as Julia Restore is Month’s highly successful lawyer and love interest. Louis Gooiest, Jar. As Willie the shop owner where Monty works. Months here daughters China Anne McClain as China James, Lauren Alias McClain as Lauren James and Sierra Liana McClain as Sierra James.

Dash Smith played by Jennifer Jackson who is Month’s ex-wife and the film’s main antagonist. Jennifer is a spiteful woman who is bent on getting custody of their three daughters. Gary Sutures as Joe, Snifter’s gangster boyfriend and drug dealer who has the whole town in fear. He is the secondary antagonist. Melinda Williams as Maya, Cilia’s assistant and the one who introduced Monty and Julia in an opportunity for Monty to make a few extra dollars as her driver. Terra J. Vaughn as Brenda and Trace Ellis Ross as Cynthia are Cilia’s friends who do not approve of Monty.

Juanita Jennings is played by Kate Jackson, the children’s maternal grandmother. The director of photography for the film or cinematographer was Tomboyish Kuris; edited by Massive How. Most of the films music is by Brian McKnight; production designer, Nina Mayhem; produced by Mr.. Perry and Reuben Cannon. Tyler Perry’s recent films are often based on what it is like to be put in a situation where all you can see is the darkness but you know that after ever Henderson there is always a rainbow. According to Officemate. Mom, the film received generally mixed reviews from critics, earning a 45% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a “Thumbs Down” from Bert & Roper. The film opened at number five on Valentine’s Day 2007 and grossed $31 worldwide, making it Tyler Perry’s lowest-grossing film. While the film was the lowest grossed out of all of the Tyler Perry films I feel that this film has the greatest message that no matter what, those that are good will receive their blessing in the end. Do to give up faith and know that no matter what you can live out your dreams.
