Feinstein’s gun registration proposal. There has been a very large commotion made on whether or not there should be a restriction on gun laws in the United states. The things to consider in whether or not there should be restrictions on what American’s can use are, if we take guns out of law abiding citizen’s hands who will be left with them? In the past what guns have been used in these horrific shootings. Finally the last thing to do is see how this has worked for other countries in the past. These are things that need to be strongly considered when making a decision on whether or not the constitution should be amended to either remove the right to bear arms or allow the government to invoke strict laws that hinder one’s ability to own guns? In this class the students have seen these fallacies and are taught to look past them and not accept them as fact, but opinions. In the second amendment it says that these rights shall not be infringed upon. Changing the second amendment to restrict gun ownership is the exact definition of infringing upon this amendment. When taking guns out of law abiding citizen’s hands who will be left with the automatic weapons and large caliber weapons. The gang bangers and gun runners are the ones who stand to profit the most from this. The gang bangers will be aloud to walk into a store and do as they please because they know that that law abiding citizen will be unarmed, or under armed. The gun runners will make out like the moonshiners did in prohibition having huge inflation on their illegal gun prices. Prohibition is a great example of how taking away something that is so integrated in American culture will only inflate prices and help the unlawful. The case for this gun ban proposal is based on the shootings that have occurred especially after Sandy Hook. The Sandy Hook school shooter reportedly had several assault rifles and many other eccentric facts were added to the story. In actuality the weapons used were handguns that released so much devastation. Hand guns were also used in the Virginia Tech shooting, the deadliest shooting in United States history.
