Order NowTelevision is, nowadays, one of the most popular forms of entertainment. Consequently, it influences us and our behaviour significantly.
For many people, the main idea of watching TV is to obtain information about what is happening in the world. Due to television, people know about the political and economic situation of their own and other countries. We keep in touch with all places on the globe thanks to the information which is available on TV. We can also be sure that we will be the first to know about some changes or important events. We learn about a special occasion, like a new exhibiton or concert, only from TV.
Besides, TV allows us to relax. It is an easy, cheap and comfortable way of resting. We can watch a movie – we have access to all kinds of them, from comedy to horror. If we only want, we can also listen to music. Furthermore, we are constantly fashionable, because we notice the differences in fashions and styles. Moreover, television gives us not only entertainment but also knowledge. Our children can learn new things not only from school or books but also from TV programmes.
Although television has so many advantages, it also has disadvantages. First of all, it destroys our health. It is often said that TV is a fantastic way of relaxing. But we do not consider the possible danger which we are exposed to while watching TV. It torments the eyes. Besides, it can be a reason for headache. We often are so tired that we want to do nothing but sit in a comfortable armchair and watch movies and advertisements. Although sitting and relaxing is needed, we should try to search new, atractive methods of making ourselves happier. What I mean is, for example, jogging or riding a bike. Physical exercise would be much better for our health and for the refreshment of our minds.
The next disadvantage of TV is its role as “a thief of time”. It is said that poeople of a rather weak personality can get easily addicted to watching. Besides, psychologists have stated that due to mass watching TV, people talk with each other less than in the past. To tell the truth, we have even stopped commenting on the programmes that we watch.
Not discussing some behaviour or problems irritating for us can cause many troubles in relationships.
Furthermore, we should start to think about children’s mental development. In my opinion, they watch too much TV, especially cartoons, which are deprived of any sense. Instead, they are full of violent scenes, which do not influence a child well.
Moreover, TV is, nowadays, everywhere. We have no time for ourselves. We spend no time to sit in silence and consider some important fact and problems.
To sum up, I think that TV can considerbly change our behaviour and personality if only we allow that. In my opinion, each person is the ruler of their own life. We decide what and when to watch and we should constantly remember about the consequences of our decision.
