There are four different methods to studying the cerebral lateralization and the first one is brain damage. Brain damage has shown that if a person would get injured in the left hemisphere that a person wouldn’t be able to talk right and it also showed that if they got injured in a different part of the left hemisphere they could make words but there speech was a little off. So from what they see language is produces and analyzed in left hemisphere but later found that it could be in both the left and right hemisphere (“EHow”, 1999-2014). The corpus callosum is thick nerves that connect the left and right hemispheres of the brain (“EHow”, 1999-2014). It as shown that some people have had surgery to have the two side separated and this is where they study how the two side function differently. The next study is the functional MRI which is where the cerebral lateralization is being studied while people lay in a tube looking and listening to pictures and sounds. The last one is functional TCD, which is where a person has electrodes put by their ear and are asked many different questions about different video’s. By doing this the electrode show if the left or right hemisphere is being used while answering these questions about the videos. All of these studies have shown a lot about the functioning of the left and right hemisphere.
