Order NowIn the movie “Inequality For All” (2013) Robert Reich explains how the middle and upper class gap is going to keep increasing unless something is changed. Reich’s thesis, summed up, is “The richer get richer and the poor get poorer.” He supports this thesis with factual evidence, statistics, charts, and examples from history. The purpose of this article is to educate people on the status of our social system and classes. The audience is most likely the middle and lower class citizens who are affected by this, and the author uses a semiÂformal tone throughout the movie. If the economy continues in the direction it is currently going in, with a middle class that is constantly shrinking, the United States as a whole will collapse.
You may think this is an exaggeration but it is not, it may not happen in my lifetime or your lifetime but it is a threat for the future of the United States. The lower class will eventually be the ninetynine percent, and upper class the one percent. The country is already ruled by the upper class, with a middle class of about thirtyfive percent, however if that thirtyfive percent, who barely have a voice already, disappeared then how much of a voice would the lower class have? The answer is none, we would be the “silent majority”. As of 2014 the average American has no voice as just a person, we have to band together, protest, and march just to be heard.
