Yes youth of India are in unrest condition because of diminishing Human values, increased selfishness, time bar for every work, no values for the intellects, the uncertainty about the future etc. However the Youth are managed to balance the same with money. The western influence has made the youth to attract towards the fanciful life where the enjoying the things which might give them relief for a seconds such as intake of Alcohol, Smoking, even the sexual desires. Not only youth, even the middle aged persons are trying those habits as a relieving measures for few moments routinely. Why this unrest

Firstly, Time restrictions :- Where many persons are not able to get the works done in the modern world especially in the so called higher educational institutions. Where they want the students to generate the product for the academic year and not otherwise. The time bound syllabus have made the students to work in the time limit where hectic syllabus have been prescribed. No innovative things are done in that time. Generally the mind of the students want the rest or some change from the unrest time schedule. Secondly, The sleep :- Many research have revealed that the unsleep have lead to many disorders such as B.P., Hypertension, etc. where event the Health is unsecured. Thirdly, The pressure in the Home :- Many a times the pressure in home to earn the money has spoiled many innovative students . The Rigid caste system has made the choices of life partner to the likes of the family and not the youth what he/she wants to do even from educational field to every aspects and walks of life except the Job of the person. Many a times she was asked unwanted questions which irritates her. Fourthly, The Money : – Where a person wants to take a needle, he wants money.

However the larger part of the Indian population is Middle class and the single extra paise is a big log on a head. Even the extra income is also difficult where the jobs are not upto the mark to the population. Even the Education is a commercial sector in the present scenario. Even for the higher education by a individual to earn self knowledge, books rate are higher. Fifthly, The education has already gone inside the soil where it is giving the hybrid products and in turn giving the diseases to the human body; in other words, the hybrid education is giving adverse results. The youth of today are in grave situation. There is unrest among them because they are facing numerous problems like ambition, anxiety, identity etc. They have never rested on their past moments nor have they felt contented with the possibilities of the present. They are under pressure of high ambition which increases their anxiety and thus problems begin to come one after another in their life. Fired by the stimulus and success syndrome of the living present, the young nurses an ambition to reach the top of the world, however hard and relentless the effort may be. There is deep divide between the urban youth and the rural one.

The former is in a state of defiance against the old order. They find it difficult to adjust them in the present set up and thus they become victims of alienation or estrangement. Deprived of the opportunity to develop intellectually, many suffer from the problem of subjective isolation and self estrangement. Once out of college they feel the whole world not ready to accept them and they start to become rebellious in characters. This is the crucial stage in their life and sometimes they fail to get support from their parents too who have thousands of complaints about their behaviour. At this stage they are prone to some bad habits like smoking, drugs etc. And finally some of them become criminals. The life of modern youth is centred on one question: how to make money. They equate success, happiness, fame everything with money and they are looking for the fastest route to go there.

Sometimes they face suspense about success and anxiety about stealing a march over others. These are normal experiences that an urban youth has to live with in order to achieve his goal. The rural youth, on the contrary, generally comes to towns and cities in bulk in search of employment after completing their studies. On the one hand they found themselves free from traditional institutions of rural life, while on the other, they have to adjust themselves with the youth of urban background. They find themselves in completely new surrounding and hence feel suffocated in the busy schedule of city life. It becomes difficult for them to accept the glamour of the urban areas and in this way they have to face psychological tension. Their simpliity is explocited at every step in the city. As a result many of them become anti social elements. Thus, the urban as well as the rural youth have problems of their own. They need proper guidance so that they may realize the reality of the changing environment and may accept the challenges ahead of them with right attitude. They must be guided to utilize their potentialities, in the right direction. They must be inspired to withstand the adverse situation.

They must be realised that they can contribute towards a big push to their country’s growth and progress. These steps will surely bring the modern youth, particularly Indian youth on the right track and they will not go astray. Instead they will be men of utility in progress of the society and the nation. India is also a country with a long tradition of student activism. The political demonstrations organized during the fight for independence saw the beginning of student unrest in India. Students participated in the independence struggle and thousands of students were arrested and put in jail because of their nationalist activities. There existed strong political student organizations on most Indian campuses representing not only the nationalists who were under the leadership of Gandhi, but also socialist, communist and communal elements. Until today, student organisations such as the All-India Sikh Students’ Federation in Punjab and the All Assam Students Union in Assam form the backbone of sub-national movements throughout India.

The student community had high ideological consciousness and since a large number of the student population came from wealthy urban families, students had time for political activity. However, post-independence period saw the transformation of student political life and movement in many ways. Before independence, the primary aim and purpose of the student movement was independence for India which had a large number of supporters from both the student community as well as major nationalist leaders of that time. After 1947, the goal of independence was achieved and many of the student organizations began to have differences over ideological politics. In addition, the nationalist leaders who had formerly lent their support to student activism withdrew their co-operation and changed their attitudes after they became government leaders. Even the educational authorities who had been neutral towards the student movement prior independence became negative in their attitudes and tried to keep any political organizations off the campuses. All these factors along with the weakening of a sense of community among the students led to the collapse of the pre-independence movement. The Indian campus began..

Essay on Youth Unrest – ‘Youth unrest’ which is often described as ‘student revolt’, ‘student power’ and ‘student activism’- has become today an established fact, a reality. The last three decades have witnessed innumerable outbursts of student power in many nations of the world. Youth Unrest — A World Phenomenon:

The phenomenon of ‘youth unrest’ has become worldwide. As Gareth Stedman Jonse has rightly observed: “From Berlin to Peking, from Tokyo to New York, in Paris and in Prague, the rise of these movements (student movements) has altered the nature of politics. Virtually, every government has some reason to fear its students, with good reason. From Cuba in 1958 to Czechoslovakia and ‘France in 1968 students have played a crucial role in political change, again and again helping to discredit, transform or topple governments. Students have erupted in the world of politics with a suddenness no one could have foretold”. The students are today a new social force of incalculable significance. The student power seems to have an anti-establishment and a revolutionary tone. In Germany, the Socialist Student Union (S.D.S.) declared the students’ lack of confidence in political parties and parliament and justified their “taking democracy into the streets”. In Italy, student strikes accompanied by an ‘antiuniversity’ stance marked the happening at Turia and other universities including those of Rome, Naples, Bologna, etc.

In Feb. 1968, the disturbances in the Belgian University of Louviah contributed directly to the fall of the Belgian Government. In Czechoslovakia, in the movement towards liberalism the students and the youth union joined hands with the workers in “heralding the democratic revolution”. In America, the anti-Vietnam and civil rights issues brought about confrontation between the students and authorities. The students were led by the S.D.S Students for a Democratic Society. In May-June 1968, France saw battles between demonstrators and police and violent attack of students and workers. Students boycotted examinations in Sorbonne and occupied the buildings. When the crisis was over, the Minister of Education was no longer in the Government for he had to resign. It is said that this event accelerated the downfall of De Gaulle. In England, the London School of Economics was the scene of confrontation between the radicals and the authorities. In Indonesia, the partnership of the students and the army militated against Communism and brought about the fall of the Soekarno regime. Japan has witnessed the most massive demonstrations by students. In Bangladesh, the students played a key role in its liberation movement joining hands with the Mukti Bahini. Youth Unrest in India:

In India the student activism has erupted in different forms and for totally unconnected reasons in different parts of the country. A quarrel between the staff of the bus transport and a group of students in Jabalpur led to massive demonstrations and strikes in the whole of M.P. and U.P. some time ago. A change in the method of payment of examination fees resulted in total strike in Lucknow University. A demand for a steel plant brought the Andhra students on the street. Vietnam has always provided an early opportunity to the Calcutta students to agitate. Demand for an Agricultural University gave rise to a massive agitation in the Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra. A demand for reforms in the Agricultural University was the reason behind agitation in Jammu and Kashmir. A few rusticated student leaders aided by the ‘disgruntled politicians’ brought the closure of the Banaras Hindu University.

A rivalry between student factions, one supporting the Vice-Chancellor and the other, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in the Osmania University was said to be the real beginning of the Telengana agitation. Anti-Hindi agitation and the Expo – 70 agitations resulted in the closure of all the Colleges in Karnataka. Semester system was the target 5f attack for the students of the Mysore University some years back. The ‘Nav Nirman Andolan’ of Gujarat (which toppled down Chimanbhai Patel’s Government) ultimately gave birth to the Chhatra Sangharsha Samities guided, inspired and led by Late Sri Jayaprakash Narayan and the Assam agitation spearheaded by the All Assam Students Union (being supported by the Gana Sangrama Parishad) have been the recent examples of student agitation of semi-political nature. Barring a few successful agitations the student solidarity has failed to be peaceful in its agitations.
