The third United States President, creator of the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson began a good work when he purchased the state of Louisiana which expanded the territory in the United States in doing so he found himself in conflict with his political beliefs; in which, enlarged the power of the national government. The founder of the Democratic Republic believed in strict adherence to the written words of the constitution, strong state government (Biography.com)

Thomas Jefferson and many of his political allies believed in social cast being that he came from a well-off family of planters he made sure that in all his dealings that it would not bring harm to the farmers and was against any industrial type of development. Though he did not believe in the Bank of United States did nothing to bring it to a close. The University of Virginia is one of Thomas Jefferson’s many contributions to the nation, the first founded secular school. Immigrant born Andrew Jackson brought new thoughts and process of how the government should be ran starting off by allowing the people to choose to for themselves of whom shall their Presidents be through voting. Andrew Jackson built his platform by ending class systems no longer requiring men to have property to vote. Defeating the British in the War of 1812 in New Orleans garnered him plenty of supporters. It was after the death of his wife that the Kitchen Cabinet was created to handle his rivals (USHistory. org).

Jackson assisted in Economic growth that would in the North, this soon would stir the southern states as it created shrinkage in a need for cotton. “As a military hero, a frontiersman, and a populist, Jackson enchanted the common people and alarmed the political, social and economic elite. A Man of the People would now govern the nation” (USHistory. org). This gave hope to many that their voices would be heard for when the Republican Democratic were in office many of cut-off many due to the market revolution(history. com)

One of the changes that are significant to the ongoing and progressive development of the American Republic are the changes political parties in the government while both President Jefferson and Jackson had vision of how the new government should be established, though there had been many revisions to the original Declaration of Independence Jefferson’s original words remained “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

” The pair of them had slaves while Jefferson understood that it went against his statement of all men are created equal. Jackson seemed to have little interest in Native Americans. Both great American leaders gave we the people on each side for Jefferson’s party believed that power should reside with the wealthy and Jackson broke the social caste system which brought about a new political party the Whigs who opposed the monarchy they left in Europe.

In both of their contributions to the nation, this allowed for the greatest foundation to be set. As one author states the “American political development, created two different foundations one for executive power. One is formal law, and the other is public opinion” (Bailey,2014)
