Order Now“Money is power, freedom, a cushion, the sum of blessings,” Carl Sandburg. However, some people hold the opposite view towards this statement, as they think having too much money is a curse, not a blessing. This essay will discuss both aspects of the matter and state why I find that having too much money more often than not results in joy and happiness. It is an accepted fact that possessing large amounts of money renders one able to fulfill most of his or her needs.
In other words, money gives a person the ability to do whatever the imagination desires. That is because having a great sum of money allows the possessor to enjoy a luxurious life and to take advantage of the opportunities coming their way. In addition, the most important benefit of possessing too much money is security, as one knows that in the event of an illness his or her child is not going to go without the best medical care. Also, in case one suffers job loss or faces a natural disaster that he or she can rely on their family members for a loan, for free housing, and to take care of their expenses for a while. It is for these reasons that all of us seek financial freedom – to be able to provide that kind of security for our children as they find their way in the world.
Nevertheless, some believe that having too much money is a curse and will result in its owner’s destruction. One of the reasons for such an ideology is that money can’t buy friends. People will only hang out with that person to use his or her money. One will thus have to be careful and cunning or he or she may end up in a dangerous situation. Furthermore, if one has money then he or she has nothing to wish for or aspire to. That person can’t work for anything because there is nothing to work for.
After analyzing and comparing the different opinions I can say that money provides its holder with status and importance. Moreover, those who possess wealth have the power to direct others. Therefore, it can be said that the chief advantage is power.
To sum up, it can be said that too much money does not the result in the destruction of a person. In my opinion, to provide a balance in society, the rich should take advantage of being wealthy in order to serve the poor by donating money and at the same time enjoy life to the fullest.
