Order NowI strongly disagree with the statement ‘Smoking should be banned.’ To prove my point I have three strong points including, it helps people take there mind off things and temporarily relaxes them, governments make huge profits from taxes from cigarettes, people all around the world get jobs from the cigarette industry and freedom of choice. Firstly smoking helps people take there mind off stressful things. If some one is taking a test and is stressed, the carbon monoxide reduces your need for oxygen, basically reduces oxygen absorbed by the blood so less oxygen gets to your brain, causing a relaxing sensation. Without this method of relaxation, people will find it hard to relax. Secondly, The tobacco industry employs tens of thousands of people particularly in poorer countries like India.
India has 96,865 registered tobacco farmers. Without cigarettes, these people would have no jobs. These farmers make a lot of money. STMA, in China, control tobacco production, marketing, imports and exports and contributes 12% to the nation’s national income. Lastly, people have the freedom of choice to do what they want. Yes they need to be considerate to others and it may be wrong, but people have the right to do what they want. ‘Without freedom of choice there is no creativity. The body dies.’ (Quote by James T. Kirk). In conclusion to this essay, I strongly disagree to the statement ‘Smoking should be banned’, my three points are, it helps people take there mind off things and temporarily relaxes them, people all around the world get jobs from the cigarette industry and freedom of choice.
