Order NowI Hate to CookThe smell of raw fish and the sight of uncooked poultry can make me nauseated. The thought of putting my hands on cold bloody slabs of defrosted beef makes me want to run in terror. The heat coming off a burning hot stove and me being the one behind it, is worse than death its’ self. What could be worse than death you say? I say cooking is worse than death. This is why I hate to cook.
Why do I hate to cook so much, first it’s so time consuming. Figuring out what to make for dinner is like trying to figure out what topic I should write for an essay in my English class. Chicken or beef, or something much easier, a pre-cooked meal that serves six to eight people that, I can just throw in the oven. Usually in my refrigerator there isn’t such a thing as a pre-cooked meal. After I figure out what type of meal I am going to make, it has already taken me twenty minutes just to do that. More of my time wasted. I could have been doing other things such as going to the nearest fast food restaurant and buying everyone in the house dinner. Waiting for meat to thaw out is another example of time wasted. I could have taken the chicken out of the freezer the night before, but I didn’t. So now I have to wait and figure out what side dishes can go with chicken.
The second part of why I hate to cook so much is the preparation of it all. Slaving over a hot stove, waiting for the water to boil, trying to calculate what I need to start to cook first so everything will be done and ready, instead of cold and burnt. Getting everything out and ready for action to throw in the pot can be a job in its self. Peeling carrots or potatoes, chopping up onions and dicing tomatoes can put you at risk for slicing a finger or worse case scenario, chopping a finger off and having the blood get into the food can make cooking dinner a hazardous, time consuming job for a person such as my-self.
The third reason why I hate to cook is not having the right ingredients. This type of problem has happened to me more than once. I am cooking dinner, everything is going fantastic. No burnt finger tips, no hot grease spattering all over my skin, and no sliced or chopped off bloody fingers. I have the chicken wings breaded and frying in the pan, I take a look in the cupboard above the stove to find the key ingredients which make ordinary fried chicken wings turn into a culinary master piece. To my dilemma there is neither crushed red pepper seasoning nor soy sauce. I dash to the refrigerator and swing open the fridge door hoping to what I am looking for there, and to my surprise the ingredients were missing in action. I bragged and boasted to all my friend and family, that I could make the best fried spicy chicken wings. Well not on that day of misery. The two main ingredients that I needed for my specialty were no where to be found and my spicy fried chicken master piece turned into a fried chicken disaster. It was one of the worse days of my life. This was the icing on the cake on why I hate to cook.
I figure that I need to leave the cooking for the pros who know what there doing and for the cooks at the five star restaurants who can turn a piece of meat into mouth watering culinary piece of art. I will just skip the embarrassment and order take out the next time it’s my turn to cook, because when it all comes down to it, I hate to cook.
