Order NowWe all have friends, but deciding whether your friend is a true friend or not can be pretty tricky. Because we all want so badly for our friends to always be there for us even if we are fighting. When you think of a true friend what comes to mind are they funny, kind, smart, do they give great advice, will they hug you when you cry, do they make you laugh when your about to break down because thatâs what a true friend is to me. The dictionary definition of a true friend is a genuine person that you really like being with I think that is a great way of putting it. When you have a true friend youâll know it because they will back you up one hundred percent even if your wrong and they will be there for you when you need them the most.
So how exactly do you decide if a friend is a true friend? Well they will listen to you and communicate back to you. They are supportive and will help you in anything that you are trying to do. When you have a true friend they will make time for you and they will always make you feel good about yourself by never putting you down. A true friend will never in a million years try to change you and will always accept you for you. True friends will try to include you in everything and they wont lie to you.
What a true friend is not is also really important, some people think a true friend is one that barely talk to you unless they need something. If you think someone is your true friend look at how they treat you if they call you out on your flaws or the way you dress they probably arenât a true friend or a friend at all for that matter. If you do have a friend that you are always with but the conversation is always about them then the friendship is not a real one. If someone makes you feel bad about yourself its probably best if you stop talking to them. If your friend is talking behind your back and saying rude nasty comments thatâs when you know the friendship is fake.
I found a couple of quotes the first on by Richard Burton says â False friendship, like the ivy, decays and ruins the walls it embraces; but true friendship gives new life and animation to the object it supports.â I think that quote is perfect because when you find a friendship that is true it makes you feel good about the people you have in your life. This next one is by Elbert Hubbard it says â A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.â This last quote is by C.S Lewis â Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: âWhat? You too! I thought I was the only one.â
In conclusion many people have different views on what a true friend is and nobodies definition is wrong. The truth is that everybody has friends that are going to come and go its up but to you to decide who you want to be friends with. True friends by dictionary definition are genuine people that you really like being with. When you have a true friend youâll know it because they will back you up one hundred percent even if your wrong and they will be there for you when you need them the most.
