The Wealth of a nation is not so much in its of economical and natural resources but it lies more decidedly in the kind and quality of the wealth of its children and youth. It is they who will be the creators and shapers of a nation’s tomorrow. The Children of today will be adults of tomorrow. Today’s leaders and activists. Their quality and personality will determine the kind of destiny that beackons the nation. It, therefore, become mandatory for every nation and every society to nurture a strong, healthy and intellectual youth. It is the responsibility of the adults to direct the youth in desired direction. The youth of a nation is its power-house. They have boundless stores of energy, will, capability, zeal, and enthusiasm and have the power to mould the destiny of the nation.
The trees and flowers of a garden have to be trimmed in order to make it look beautiful and appealing. Otherwise, the plants and bushes will go haywire and spoil the beauty of the garden and will not reap proper blossoms. Similarly, a child has to be pruned of its baser instincts and trained in a proper manner in order to beneficial to society. If proper and timely attention is not paid to the grooming of the youth, it can turn haywire and become unproductive. For this, society should provide its youth with the right kind of education. The education provided should be progressive, in keeping with the needs of the society and should not only create great professionals excelling in their fields but also good human beings.
“The children of today should be given freedom”
How best to raise children has always been an all-consuming question for most parents. In this regard, parents tend to opt for one of two ways; either let children have their way in everything or set limits on what they can do. Giving freedom to children means they have the opportunity create their own destiny instead of being restricted by their parents. So, in my opinion, I strongly agreed that parents should give freedom for their children and power to decide on their own will. This is important for children to develop decision-making and social skills that is crucial in their future life to become independent individuals. Firstly, parents need to take account on how much freedom should be given to their children and their approach in giving freedom should be started by small decisions.
For example, giving the children freedom to choose how they would like to fill their pastimes, TV programmes, manage homework and arranged schedule according to their priority. As children develop from one stage to another, they need to expose themselves to surroundings which then will encourage independence and responsibility in children’s character. Adults can nurture this habit by giving them freedom the freedom to manage their lives under parental supervision. For example, if a child chooses to leave his bicycle outside in the rain, the bicycle will rust. This teaches children that their actions lead to adverse effects and certainly will encourage them to bear responsibility for their actions. In addition, giving children freedom also important in build and encourage their social skills. This is mainly because children cannot be taught how to make friends and interpersonal and intrapersonal skills cannot be develop if children are restricted from involving themselves with others. By giving freedom, this promotes opportunities for them to develop friendship.
Children Of Yesterday And Today
Children’ pastimes are very different from yesterday than today. Technology has taken our world to another level. What use to be fun, when we were children is boring to our own children. If they do not have a hand held component in their hands they are not happy. For instance children today have a great amount of technology at their fingertips. They have video games, computers, mp3′, I pads, and lets not forget cell phones. All they have to do is push some buttons and whatever they want is there. They no longer have to interact with each other, for it is less trouble to just text. Many years ago children had to develop their imagination to play. To create t hings to occupy their time. Learning how to get along with one another, how to share, and to interact with each other. It was a part of learning and developing social skills.
Children today spend most of their time with their ear plugs in their ears, watching T.V, playing video games, or just texting each other. “ Forty seven percent of children from twelve to eighteen years of age can text with their eyes closed”. That is a staggering amount. While us as parents wonder why we are not on the same page as our children.Children yesterday created things to do they would catch butterflies in the daytime, and fireflies at dusk. They would climb trees, and build tree houses, play in creek beds on a hot summer day. Children would have friends over for a backyard picnic. Even if it was just peanut butter and jelly and a glass of cool lemonade.I personally feel in a lot of ways we have bestowed a great loss upon our children today. We have pushed technology at them full force. I hope in the end, it will be worth it . Losing personal interaction with each other in the long run, may not be the best for our children.
Children pastime has a lot more electric gadgets then children of the past. Children’s pastime from the seventies had more children doing outdoor activities as children today are more inside playing on their electric gadgets. Children spend more time indoors then they did in the past.
Parents today allow children to spend many hours playing on computers, playing wii, play station, or watching cable television or watching movies. Even playing on mp3’s, cell phones which they either text friends or listen to music. Not many children today get outside and get exercise.
Children today are better known as the lazy generation. Because they don’t get the daily needed exercise their bodies need to stay healthy. In the 70’s more children were found playing outside playing football, basketball, baseball in the winter months making forts or sliding down hills, skiing They spent more time outside then inside. One reason is they didn’t have all the gadgets the children today have. Children found more things that kept them busy without even known or thinking that they were also getting there daily exercise. Your lucky if you can get a child to walk to the car. Children today don’t get enough exercise.
Pastime used to include many different ways a child got their daily exercise. Today’s children exercise is their fingers typing on a computer or cell phone or using a game control or television remote. Other than that if they didn’t have to walk around their school, they would be lucky to get ½ hour of exercise. Having all these electronic gadgets are fine but we need to as parents, get our children back outside getting exercise like children in the past used too. Cause we as parents are turning our own children into lazy kids. If children continue to be lazy now, just think how they well be in their adult lifes they well be like.
