Order NowCommunication is an essential part of the human life when it comes to interacting and developing our society. Ever since we can remember we have used communications on different forms: sign language, body language, signal language and written language. Today however we have taken communicating to a new level, an other form of written language: social media and social networking. This sensation affects us i numerous of ways and nowadays we can access it at all times, because we are carrying it with out at all times: through our cellphones. The phenomenon social media is like a coin with two sides: it has both negative and positive consequences.
As mentioned before social media has created a new way to communicate with people from all around the world: communications has been simplified. Never before has it been easier to meet new people and build up new relations with all kinds of people. Through social media it is simple to keep in touch with old friends without even leaving your own home. Social media also creates an opportunity to bring people with common interests together. It also helps people who have a difficulty communicating in person are more comfortable interacting via the Internet.
No one can argue with the fact that social media does have a positive impact on the society, but as mentioned before there are always two sides of a coin. Social media does indeed have a positive affect on the world, but there will always be cons to break it down.
Firstly, as mentions before, social media distracts people, and sometimes a distraction is just what one might need. But it might sometimes create a distraction from what we are suppose to do in our workplace or in school. It is often argued if social media should be allowed in these environments and that is a never ending discussion. Social networking does affect us and distracts us, it is far more entertaining to use social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram instead of writing an essay, but the consequences of this is severe. Instead of doing homework teenager’s distract themselves by going online, and in many cases this affects the grades in a bad manor. Students are being turned down by employers for jobs, internships and even interviews because of the information employers are finding out about students on their social networking accounts, those pictures or videos will never go away and that may have an impact later in life.
Secondly, even though communicating through social media might be a good way for young people to interact with each other we often hear about kids and teenagers that have been exposed to bullies and pedophiles over the Internet. Being exposed to such dangers have become easier since the online anonymity helps to shield peoples true identities. Bullying today is for example far different from what is was just a decade ago.
Social media is all around us, it is undeniable. Is has become a essential part of our lives and it is hard to avoid using social media since everything is connected to it. Weighing the pros and cons it is hard to decide if social media and social networks are amicable or not. Even though we know about the severe consequences of using the different types of social media, it seem like it is impossible to life without it, it has become an addictive habit for us. We cannot change the fact that social networking is an essential part of our lives, but we do however have a curtain responsibility to take to consequences of our own actions.
