Order NowIn many countries television shows many foreign-made programs. The dominance of imported entertainment is harmful to the cultures of these countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
There is a contention in some circles that in many nations television shows a lot of imported programs which are badly affected to the cultures of these countries. While honorably intended, this idea is misguided at the best since foreign entertainment brings many benefits to their societies. Firstly, watching programs from overseas can help people who are unable to travel know more about different cultures all over the world. It should be pointed out that this type of entertainment allows people to pick up other language, learn about other people’s lifestyles, see how traditional food is cooked and gain general knowledge about geography and culture. As a consequence, foreign-made programs are an opportunity for a country to introduce its culture and lifestyle to others.
Perhaps the case of films from the USA is the most germane here, as citizens have obtained information about the shape of White House, the President of America and a lot of beautiful places since American programs were shown on TV. This brings me to my second point. It is obvious that many countries are not always possible to produce local programs on their own. Lacking of resources such as money, skills, technology is local television companies’ limitations to make attractive programs. It is for that reason buying foreign-made programs which are cheaper than creating locally-made ones is the good way to help them solve this problem. All in all, I believe that there is a necessity in importing some selected TV programs that could be beneficial for our mental health.
