A very good morning to all on the floor today My heartful well wishes to the Headmistress Ms.Abhinaya,fellow teachers present here,the parents of all this proud students here and my dear students. Firstly I would like to thank the organizing committee of the school Entrepreneurship Day for giving me the oppurtunity to talk on this fine stage where once I came up to receive achievement badges,certificates and trophies during my primary school days.Walking up this stage was one of the biggest prideful moments to be cherished during the schooling days for every student. This Penang Freefall school was a place that I shared hundreds of moments growing up.Today my topic of speech here is about Why is Breakfast the most important meal of the day. Breakfast is the first meal taken after rising from a night’s sleep, most often eaten in the early morning before undertaking the day’s work.Breakfast foods vary from place to place but often include a carbohydrate such as grains or cereals,fiber such as fruit or vegetables, protein such as eggs, meat or fish and a beverage such as milk, tea or juice. Food plays a very important role in our life, especially breakfast the most important meal of the day,skipping breakfast for students can cause them to lose concentration in class due to hunger.Researchers have found that eating breakfast has an positive impact on academic performance.A recent science study has said that that out of 80% of students below the age of 18, only 46% of them take breakfast in a daily basis. It is notable that this average amount of students who have a daily intake of breakfast work more efficient and obtain higher grades in their examinations compared to the other 34% who fail to obtain even average of the results and efficiency of those who eat breakfast. Hormones such as the leptin and ghrelin are released when a person gets hungry which prevents their mind to be in a state of control. This affects a student’s life mentally as it effects their studies. Besides that,Breakfast is also an vital meal in daily life because it is the first meal consumed at the start of a day that provides us with sufficient energy to brace the day.
It gives a boost to kick start the day, it is very important that we consume this meal so that we get enough energy to carry out activities in school and at work. For example, The school students would have their physical education classes as their first period, if that speficic student did not have breakfast, he or she wouldn’t have the energy to participate much in the given event. The breakfast eaten in the morning would provide energy to be used for the student to be active not only mentally but physically too.They cant perform their fullest if their lacking energy. Furthermore, workload at office might be stressful for the adults,to overcome the stress levels,they should have eaten a proportionate meal for breakfast to start their day fresh and tireless which will eventually help them concentrate better and keep them physically ready to accquire the strength for the day’s job.As breakfast boosts our metabolism rate and increases our energy throughout the day. Breakfast also affects our health, it says that a person who skips breakfast in a daily basis might face health problems which cannot be reverted. Breakfast being the most important meal of the day has to be eaten at the correct timing too, from the early in the morning time till 11am is a sufficient time for breakfast. Skipping breakfast might give us certain diseases which cannot be reverted as I said.A study states that men who skips breakfast had higher risk of heart attack or coronary heart disease. The effects of missing an meal in the morning may cause adverse metabolic effects that lead to coronary heart disease. The famous gastric ulcer disease is a high rise in our country. Ages from 8-80 have this disease because of the lack of intake of sufficient food in the morning which leads to erosion of muscles and tissues in the lining of the stomach.
The infection in the lining of the stomach acid decreases our appetitte to eat and increases the pain in it. Skipping breakfast may also increase the risk of obesity or make it harder to lose weight,Since we fast the overnight while sleeping,forgoing breakfast adds to this fasting period and may distrupt blood sugar balance and insulin output. Skipping breakfast may also trigger bad eating habits as its proven scientifically that skipping breakfast might trigger bad eating habits throughout the day,as cravings are ensue and quick-fix fast foods are often sought out.We should know that people skipping breakfast will also consistently suffer from constipation.
