The Titanic

Titanic, the unsinkable is known as the ship of dreams as two young, star-crossed lovers Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) struggle to fight for their love despite coming from different social classes. Rose goes back to the past as she narrates a romantic, emotive, death-defying tragedy showing her ongoing love with Jack. However, when Rose’s fiance Cal (Billy Zane) realises Jack has sketched an exposed portrait of Rose wearing no more than her Blue diamond necklace he has bought for her illustrating his love.

He shows his jealousy immensely towards their relationship. Meanwhile, the Titanic unexpectedly collides with an iceberg, whilst Jack and Rose show their ongoing affection for one another. As a result of this, Cal hatches a plan to get Jack arrested, will he succeed and win Rose back over? Or will they find themselves fighting for survival? Unlike many romantic films, a contemporary, luxury cruise ship named the “R. M. S. Titanic” is the official setting for the reconstruction of the film as it departs from Southampton to go on a short voyage over the North Atlantic

Ocean, where a traumatic collision with an iceberg takes place, costing the lives of many people. The “R. M. S. Titanic” is an ideal setting for the film, as it is surrounded by the Ocean which provides it with a feeling of romance. However, the classes separating the wealthy from the poor cause havoc as Jack and Rose fall in love with one another regardless of coming from different social classes. Leonardo DiCaprio plays his role in the film exceptionally and emotively as Jack, expressing his love towards Rose through both emotions and actions.

An instance of which his performance successfully illustrates he is a compassionate yet warm-hearted character is when he raises Rose up against the liner, causing her to feel liberated. Leonardo brings the film to life, as he manages to capture the audience’s attention since he gives a spectacular performance by demonstrating his heart to heart feelings for Rose, knowing he may not survive long enough to be with her after the downfall of the Titanic. Leonardo DiCaprio proves the role as the hero is made for him, as he provides the audience with a superb, breathtaking survival story.

Billy Zane is given a vital role to play in the movie as Cal, the young, posh, envious and rich fianci?? of Rose. He struggles to end his fianci?? es relationship with Jack except causes himself to lose his fianci?? e since he has no admiration for her and only approves of her attractiveness. A situation in which Cals performance illustrates envy is when he separates Rose from Jack successfully via accomplishing to plan Jacks arrest for an accusation of thieving her Blue diamond necklace, of which she believes.

Billy Zane is an exceptionally talented actor as he only thinks about himself and causes mayhem on the ship which engages the audience into the film. The actress Kate Winslet plays the important role of Rose, showing her passionate love for Jack, as of the moment he saves her from committing suicide off the top of the liner. However, Cal becomes involved into their love affair and consequently attempts to end their relationship, before she decides to marry Jack instead of him.

Rose’s spirits are lifted within her when Jack raises her up into the atmosphere, by positioning her on top of the rails with her arms lifted into the air. He creates a feeling inside her which makes her feel free. This shot is created by a camera rotating around them in a clockwise direction; this shot shows a strong and powerful message of their love as Jack confidently releases her from feeling trapped.

The camera zooms out onto the Titanic as fireworks are released into the air on its last few hours of survival, indicating help. This effect of the camera illustrates the seriousness of the situation they are involved in. Music has a large impact on the making of the Titanic as it plays a vital role throughout the film. During the commencement of the film, where the passengers can be perceived boarding the Titanic, music is performed with passion since its low pitch and loudness demonstrates the contentment of constructing and boarding the liner on its initial leg of the journey.

Additionally, as the passengers wave and say goodbye to their fellow friends and family whilst a melody is being performed in the background, it appears to blend in and become apart of the passengers saying. Moreover, in a further scene music is performed repetitively and stridently with harmonious instruments consisting of violins, drums and bagpipes which create an atmosphere of merriment when Jack invites Rose to a ‘real party` in the third class. Likewise, whilst the third class passengers are tap dancing to the music it assists in accumulating rhythm to the music.

Furthermore, a scenario which utilizes fast music in addition to the composition of the strident machinery to create panic within the crew is when they endeavour to save the Titanic from colliding into an iceberg. Conclusively, during the final few hours of the Titanic’s survival, violins and cellos are played in order to calm passengers however as the ruffle and squealing continues they begin to perform heart-rending, high pitched and emotional music.

For me, Titanic has left me thinking of it has a brilliant, emotional and memorable film of all time. The story line of the reconstruction leaves you glued to the seat as you desire to find out what happens next. The Titanic is an exceptional film for all, since the plot of the story encourages the audience to keep tuned in as Rose and Jack fight for their love on the unsinkable Titanic and believe me, you’ll be wiping your tears away by the end of the film.
