Order NowPeople on the top of the food industry have more control over what we eat and what we buy than we think. Eating is the basis of our lives. I normally don’t consider what the beef I’m eating suffered before I eat it, or what the creator of my potato chips thought when putting the ingredients into the recipe. One tries not to think about these things because when I do I lose all of the enjoyment in eating. Consuming food that is ridiculously cheap makes me realize the sacrifices made to make my food that cheap. All of the unnecessary saturated fats in my snacks to add “flavor” and the artificial and “natural” flavorings that give my processed protein shake “strawberry flavor”. The food industry control what I buy and eat by being convenient, delicious, having no morals, and are buying the “competition”.
Without eating we would not be here today. We would be dead. What we eat controls how long we live, how we live, and how the people we love live. Knowing that food controls so much in our lives why doesn’t the typical person consider the things that are consumed throughout the day. Take a look in your cupboard. Can you tell me why you bought at least half of the things in your cupboard? Let me guess, the product probably was either A. affordable I mean who doesn’t like a good deal? B. It said it was made from “natural flavorings” and said the product was organic and healthy. Or C. You first tried it for either A. or B. and remembered how good it tasted and couldn’t resist the temptation to buy the product again. As mentioned earlier, food has life long effects so buying something because of pretty, “organic” labeling or that it is cost effective is an unwise decision.
Inexpensive processed foods are marketed towards the common American family seeming, yet are unhealthy and can be detrimental. According to “www.healthline.com”, “Too bad granola bars are also loaded with added sugars, which digest quickly and don’t satisfy hunger for long. Despite their healthy marketing image, granola bars don’t offer much in the way of good nutrition. Avoid them for their high simple-carbohydrate count and the long ingredient list filled with difficult-to-pronounce words.” “www.healthline.com” says how many other convenience foods are full of hidden fats, sugars, sodium, and carbs. Foods on the list include: ramen noodles, fruit snacks, flavored nuts, and e.t.c.
I could possibly forgive the corrupt business owners for filling me up with empty calories, but not for causing local businesses to go bankrupt. For instance a book called “Chew on This” says that four meatpacking plants now control 84% of the beef market, but that book is an outdated source. Those four meat packing companies could possibly control more of the beef market nowadays. This is just one example. Major food company owners now own more of the market and are ruining the quality of many foods with their carelessness.
The people managing all of your favorite foods use one of the most valuable things you can give to get rich. Your trust. Consumers are easily misguided and make for easy targets. As long as the boss and everyone in charge are getting paid does it matter if that health nut from across the street thinks she’s eating foods that are approved for her diet, but is actually eating hidden sugars and no fiber whatsoever? Of course not! The website “matadornetwork.com” states, “Whole grain” — yeah, that makes a bowl of choco-sugar-puff-things healthy. Not. The FDA has never established a legal definition of what “whole grain” is in terms of labels, which is why the Center for Science in the Public Interest recently petitioned them, requesting that they stop allowing companies to falsely label their foods as whole grain, or requiring them to include a percentage on the label.” This means that the FDA has been allowing companies to use helpless shoppers to make big dollars and letting billions of consumers be tricked. How unfortunate for us and not them.
