Analyse factors that influence the capacity of an individual to express consent Factors that influence whether a person cannot consent are age, (are they an adult), illness such as a brain injury or potentially a brain disorder such as dementia and whether they have a good understanding of the situation and what risks are posed to them by acting or non-action.

Describe how to support an individual to question or challenge decisions concerning them that are made by others You could support an individual by helping them find out all the information they needed about decisions concerning them. All organisations have a complaints procedure and you could find out the relevant information about how to make a complaint and support the person with making a complaint or complain on their behalf if they wanted too. You could attend meetings with them and provide support with challenging decisions made or questioning these decisions. You should also make sure that the individual is always aware of all choices and options that are open to them.
6. Explain the links between identity, self image and self esteem Self-image is the person we think we are and self-esteem is the worth we attach to our self-image. Identity is all the factors that the individual feels are important to defining who they are for example gender, age, race, religious background, family, home environment, and financial status.
7. Analyse factors that contribute to the well-being of individuals Factors that can contribute to an individual’s wellbeing include physical and mental health, emotional and intellectual fulfilment and overall contentment. Contentment is often achieved by someone’s’ needs being met for example a person with housing issues may feel content once supported to get a property.
8. Compare different uses of risk assessment in health and social care Risk assessments can be used too;

9. Explain how risk-taking and risk assessment relate to rights and responsibilities Everyone Is entitled to take risks. All risks that we take are assed by us such as crossing the road, getting on a plane. Taking risk is part of life and individuals who are supported to make decisions should also feel that it is their right to take risks that they have assessed and be supported in doing so. 10. Explain why risk assessments need to be regularly revised Risk assessments need to be regularly revisited to ensure that they are up to date with any changes in circumstances or need. They need to be current so that risks in an individual’s current circumstances are assessed and correct plans put in place for that person to achieve the outcomes that they wish to achieve.
