Have you ever been to Fort Myers? Well, I have. For some people, Fort Myers is lifeless, and colorless. Some will say, theres nothing but old people living there. Others will say, the town is too young. Some may pass through the town to visit, and various people end up making it their home. However, Fort Myers has beautiful beaches, scrumptious food, and mesmerizing scenery. Fort Myers is not only for the retired, but also for people looking for a new experience. Are you ready to experience Fort Myers?

Focusing my attention to the beach, laying on that sugar like sand, you feel gritty. I observe young and middle aged people resting on beach towels, with their children creating sandcastles, and young couples holding hands while walking the shoreline. Families enjoying the heat from the grill, barbecuing, the breeze from the ocean playing volleyball, and frisbee. I close my eyes and take in the peaceful surrounding. I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky, doesn’t that sound like a perfect life? In the distance, you hear the rolling clear-blue waves crashing into one another with forces similar to football players. You hear the whistle blows from the dolphins, calling out to each other letting us know they see us. Then I decide to be adventurous, and charge into the ocean with pure excitement. Inserting my bare feet into the shallow blue sea, you are taken back a few steps because of how cold the water is, you can almost start to hyperventilate.

I bring myself to a stop mid-thigh, and I let the soft currents splash upon my body. Plenty of vibrantly colored, various sized fish swim around your legs, and feet. The dolphins swimming close to you, almost scaring you, yelling and calling out to each other to play. At this point, this is where I need to come for peace, where all things seem to be care free. There is nowhere else in Florida quite like this. I walk out to see the scenery all around Fort Myers. Stepping outside, the sunset being spectacular that day. I typically think, “its nothing different then whats in Miami.” Where in Miami do you find the autumn leaves on the ground enriching the soil with fertilizers Many trees standing tall, almost reaching the clouds, not yet trimmed. These trees filled with nests, and homes to many birds – you can hear all the crows cawing, and the birds chirping from above. The weather had been extremely breezy, lifts you up off your feet a little. A slight breeze creating a tornado of leaves. The pathway is nothing more than autumn leaves, and random rocks. There is a long canal that runs along the trail, reminding me of the one running along Black Point Marina in Homestead, FL. This park is lonely, except a couple ducks waiting to be fed. From a distance, you see this long object laying motionless on the trail, baking in the sun. It looked like a U-shaped tire thread. The thread absorbing the suns power, looking like a statue, but suddenly mouth opening I can see the sharpness of the countless teeth. Yes, it was an alligator. The alligator’s mouth overlapping each other, like an overbite.

Walking closer, I get scared because I know he see’s me as a threat so he wants to chomp on me. I grabbed my spouses’ hand, in fear of my life. We acted in bravery, we walked towards it, the alligator made a u-turn, and went back into the water. Fear is now slightly disappearing out of my soul. In this trail, we encounter numerous of alligators, but they did not attack as long you do not cause them any harm. Beautiful scenery, it was like walking through the movie Crocodile Dundee, just without being attacked. It was a while before I went back to enjoy that scenery but now I learned to admire some of the beauty and nature in my environment. Now a days, there are many delicious foods easily available. I sometimes wonder if in the past food was easily accessible, as it is today. I can easily walk past the pastries, cakes, and the pizza. But when I sit in the restaurant where you have to take off your shoes at the door, and twinkle your toes into the sand to walk to your table, I get excited. Yes, you heard correctly. They brought Hawaii indoor, because Hawaii is to expensive to fly too. Its an Hawaii beach experience restaurant, indoor of course. The host will walk you through the gritty sand to your table, passing through different rooms, which represent different regions of Hawaii. Strolling through the sand, you encounter these giant tiki sculptures, and these counterfeit volcano’s, erupting with hot fire. It feels cool in there, even with those fires having a heat rush.

The tables being crystal clear, you can see your party kicking sand to each other, or wiggling sand off from between their toes. The sand is like sugar, reminds me of the sand I lay on at the beaches in Fort Myers. Now, looking at the menu what to eat. A traditional Hawaiian food, Laulau, no its not a plant. Its pork wrapped in layers of taro leaves and its cooked in a hot rock oven until it turns soft and smoky. This meat its similar to roasted pork called lechon. When you get your entree, the food still sizzling, meat still cooking as if it was still was on the grill. I take a deep breath in, inhaling all the greatness that was on my plate. You can smell the island spices, the food making your mouth watery. Pick up your mouth now, we are about to eat. First spoonful of food, made me fall in low. The meat is so hot, blow a little just to cool that piece off. Wow, how can meat be so tender and taste so juicy, makes you positively drool. You chew this meat, and you are can taste the every importance behind this meat. With the food, and the environment, you are having a beautiful day in Hawaii for 10 times less the price as if you were in Hawaii.
