Order NowWriting a story is never been easy for me. I listen to Friel’s story money times on my phone to get the story right and try to narrow it down. And still did not come out the way I want it to. I particularly wrote this story this way on purpose because I want the audience to feel sympathy for the character and at the same time I want to encourage my audience by using types of persuasion, and rhetorical strategies in an effective manner. This story is a way to show my ability to use key devices.
Literary devices very critical in the stories as they create a vivid picture, and a way to relate with the character in the story. I chose to use a simile, metaphor, foreshadowing, and mood. those are the one I chose to use because I thought those can give the most powerful vivid picture to the audience. I used simile to show Friel’s Grandfather strength, not just physically as well as mentally. By doing that I gave for the audience much more and deeper understanding. This made it easier for the audience to be encouraged.
Metaphor, I used two metaphors in the story two of them relates to the Friar’s story. Which I have a specific reason why I have included it in the story. I wanted the audience to picture the struggle she faces and the hope she has for her children. The first one emphasizes how she dedicates all her energy for her family and for herself to have a better life than she had. The second one show how she has a bright future for her family to be successful.
The story lies in the three major components of Ethos, Pathos, and logos that allows for the development of persuasion to take place inside the story. The component of Ethos why I used is to provide an understanding of the importance that a character credibility has in establishing persuasion. The second component I used is pathos the reason I use pathos is to show the ability of a character emotionally connect to the audience. Finally, the third component I used is logos this establish the argument that is being discussed and presented to the audience. Each one of these components provides an essential link to the audience, persuading an audience to accept the message character trying to express and in turn support the position character have established in the story.
Personally, this story means a lot to me. Somehow I find myself related to the story. Coming to United State and learn everything for the scratch is not an easy task to do. I might not know how hard it is being a single parent with three kids. But I do know the struggle of not able to express my thought and feelings as a second laugh. And the story gives me an opportunity to use types of persuasion and strategies and she has an amazing story.
