Order NowDo you think this ad fulfill the premises of the equal employment opportunities? What are your comments about this ad?
We don’t think that ad fulfill the premises of the equal employment opportunities. Because the requirement of “help wanted ad” which is mentioned about the “female Chinese, age 40 and above, preferable” that is against the equal employment opportunity (EEO). Equal employment opportunity (EEO) is making sure that everyone has equal access to available employment by ensuring that workplaces are free from discrimination and harassment, and providing programs to assist people to overcome disadvantage (Dessler, 2011, pp. 4 ).
One particular aspect of EEO that is worth exploring is sexual discrimination. Some guidelines that define sexual harassment as unwelcome sexual advances, like: requests for sexual favors (Dessler, 2011, pp. 4).Therefore “female” should not in the requirements of “help wanted ad”
According to the National Origin Discrimination, we cannot treat someone less favorably because s/he comes from a particular place (“Types of Discriminatory Employment Practices”, n. d.) So that if add “Chinese” in part of requirement, it will against the EEO
The “age 40 and above” of requirements is unlawful to discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment based on the age of an individual who is 40 years of age or older (“Types of Discriminatory Employment Practices”, n. d.). So we cannot specify the age of people when making the “help wanted ad”.
For the last one require of the requirements which is “preferably Buddhist” is also against the EEO. Since employers may not treat an employee or an applicant less, or more, favorably because of his/her religious beliefs or practices (“Types of Discriminatory Employment Practices”, n. d.).That is Religious Discrimination.
Therefore, according to the EEO, we would like to revise this ad in order to emphasize the equal employment opportunities that are the question 2 of the case study: Would you revise this ad in order to emphasize the equal employment opportunities? If so, how would you revise it? What are your reasons to/not to revise the ad?
We would like to revise the “help wanted ad” as below:
Help Wanted: Dishwasher (1 position)
Requirements: Hardworking, Reliable, Responsible, and Passionate. Job Duty: Maintains clean and sanitized area by washing items, equipment and area. No experience needed

Dessler (2011) believes that the basic concepts of Equal Employment Opportunity, aims to ensure that anyone has an equal opportunity based on their qualification, regardless of race, color disability, sex, religion, national origin, or age. If the “help wanted ad” is including sex, religion, national origin, or age, the ad is violation. Therefore, the “help wanted ad” should list of job’s duties, responsibilities, reporting relationships, working conditions and supervisory responsibilities (pp.4).
