I paid a visit to the Discovery Museum of Sacramento where I found the Gold Rush History Center to be extremely unique, well organized and full of displays that offered so much valuable information about the history of the city of Sacramento.
The interesting history of Sacramento took center stage at the museum, where I was able to view details about the man, Johann Augustus Sutter who first came, in the year 1841 to settle in what is now known as Sacramento, California. At Sutter Mill, one of his workers discovered gold and tried to keep it secret but to no avail, the history of the “Gold Rush” in California began. The museum offers so much to visitors while the museum’s exhibits were all focused on the history of the city of Sacramento, including the nuggets of gold that were on display for all “Gold Rush” enthusiasts, artifacts that were brought forth by settlers, and there was even a museum store where souvenirs could be purchased.
I learned that The Discovery Center’s Gold Rush History Center was built in the year, 1985 and is modeled to resemble the Sacramento City Hall and Waterworks building.
While walking through the gallery, I was able to learn so much about the great history of Sacramento while viewing the antique pieces and chunks of gold. I was able to have an enjoyable experience and learn about the California Gold Rush, at the same time.
